| A BRIEF HISTORY OF MOLL |
 |
In 1945, Moll Tool and Die Corporation was incorporated in Indiana by Walter Moll and Joe Halbig for the purpose of building tools, dies, plastic molds, and fabricating special metal stamping. By 1948, the building of plastic molds was the core concentration for Moll's staff of 15, and metal stamping production was phased out in order to meet the changing needs of Moll customers. Within a few years, the company entered into injection molding of thermoplastic materials, and in 1959 the company name was changed to Moll Tool and Plastics Corporation, reflecting the new focus.
In 1962, developments prompted a move of operations into a larger facility with 8 injection-molding machines and 40 employees. Advancement continued and the business expanded into a building of 140,000 square feet with 400 employees. 1974 brought a merger with Culbro Corporation, and acquisition of a 9 machine, 30,000 square foot molding site in Fort Smith, Arkansas. A facility in La Vergne, Tennessee was added in 1984, with a major expansion in Fort Smith commencing in 1985. Corporate headquarters moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1989. Shortly thereafter, Culbro sold Moll to PlastiCrafters and Moll Tool and Plastics became Moll PlastiCrafters, LP.
Many events and business progressions have occurred since to bring Moll to the current era. Today Moll Industries is headquartered in Dallas, TX, and has grown into a global injection molding and full-service contract manufacturing solutions provider. Centralized Engineering offices in Evansville, IN, oversee and support local teams in all facilities, where Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma expertise and Quality Systems are implemented and knowledge is shared across all operations. Our global footprint continues to expand to multiple continents, with wide-ranging tonnage capacity available, and the number of presses growing.
Today, Moll Industries is one of the largest and most experienced custom suppliers of injection molding and assemblies to the appliance industry, and a significant provider of globally consumed medical, healthcare and consumer products.
